definitions for terminology

Post by iferget » 23 Jun 2010, 19:24

Kind of a noobie here. I get lost in the termiology on this site, as well as some of the abbreviations. Is there a list of definitions somewhere? If not can we make one?
I never realized there were so many rules to being a non-conformist.

First question:
What is "buffing"?

"Buffing" comes from the word "buff". Buffs are special effects that come from player's skills. There are 2 types of buffs.
1)positive buffs that amplify your defense, HP, dodge, attack, movement speed
2)negative buffs that decrease your defense, HP, dodge, attack, movement speed

If you have other questions post them on forum and people will answer. Buffs are common in most online games.

Is there a better place to post these questions than here?

"pwned" comes from "owned" i think and it is used as "killed"
"You have been pwned" can be translated as "You have been killed"

in time these definitions will come naturally to you. The best thing to do is ask people in-game. Some people are nice however some cannot reply immediately to any whispers you send so please be patient in waiting for answers.

There are still some terms I don't know yet, but life is a learning process and we're all sponges, so suck in every bit of detail you can :D

I remember when i first heard the word LMAO. I was in a different game. And someone wrote something in world chat and other player answered "LMAO, you're still here?" so i thought LMAO is a player.
In time i saw LMAO a lot so i was wondering "who the fck is this LMAO that is so popular?" :))
Then finallly a player enlightened me XD
