Where are my skills?

I've played PWI on the "real" servers and liked it. Wanted to check out this server because it looks fun.

I created a new Venomancer and played a bit. After running through several quests I got the wolf pet egg and heal/rez pet skill books. I turned in the books to the Pet Master and... nothing. There are no skills listed for me to learn. Did the quest to get the Tame skill and still nothing. I can't find any of those three skills listed in my Skills List (press R) and after doing lvl 9 cultivation can't even learn any of the new Veno skills.

What's up with this? Do I have to delete this character and start over?

I created a second venomancer. I killed a couple monsters to hit lvl 3. Took the pet skill quest (did wolf pet first time so I picked the scorpion pet this time) and turned it in. Got the scorpion pet egg and both skill books. Again, was able to hatch the pet and "use" the skill books at the Pet Master but the do not appear in my skill list.

What a drag. Hey game dudes... any suggestions how to fix? Rep maybe? Server issue?

Something wrong with ur game client if u not able to see skills there, I have 3 WFs and got all their skills without any problem.

Ah, got it. Yeah, I have to log out when ever I learn a totally new skill. If I just level-up the skills they are fine. Very strange.
